Interpol World TV – Border Management

Dr. Attila Freska, Securiport’s Chief Operating Officer speaks with Interpol World TV on Border Management and solving the international security challenges of our globalized world.

Securiport’s Integrated Immigration Control System Assist in the Identification and Arrest of a Passenger Traveling to Senegal with a Stolen Passport

Just recently, Securiport assisted in a major arrest made by the Special Commissioner at the Leopold Sedar Senghor International Airport in Dakar, Senegal. A passenger was traveling from Paris to Senegal, with a stolen passport, and was identified by Securiport’s immigration control systems. Securiport’s Integrated Immigration Control System (IICS) and Intelligent Information Management & Profiling directly connected with INTERPOL databases to crosscheck passenger information, and were therefore able to identify the passenger and his stolen passport.

Once the passenger arrived in Dakar, police quickly apprehended him, and he was detained for further questioning. Originally from Portugal, the Senegalese detectives informed the Portugal government of the apprehension of the passenger, only to learn that the country was actively seeking him for being part of a vast network of counterfeiters that have not only stolen administrative documents, but have also forged monetary and bank documents.

The identification and arrest of the counterfeiter was made possible by the integration of INTERPOL databases with Securiport’s Integrated Immigration Control System and Intelligent Information Management & Profiling. Securiport’s IICS was able to identify the passenger as a person of interest by dynamically cross-checking his personal information and provided passport with other government databases such as INTERPOL.

This connection to other databases around the world provides governments and immigration officials with the ability to share and collect data both rapidly and effectively. This is extremely beneficial and allows security officials at national border points and airports to equip themselves with the necessary information to confidently confirm a traveler’s identity at each stage of the immigration process. Ultimately, the results are more secure borders and safer travels for passengers.
